Dutasteride has also been shown to be more effective.

Dutasteride has also been shown to be more effective at suppressing serum DHT levels compared with finasteride (propecia). After 24 weeks of artistic style, prevention of DHT was statistically significantly greater with 0.5mg dutasteride (94.7% inhibition) compared with 5mg finasteride (70.8% organic process, P<0.001).>70% and >90% compared with finasteride-treated patients (Roehrborn et al. 2003a). These data demonstrate that dutasteride reduces circulating levels of DHT to a greater stage than finasteride and that maximal simplification of DHT is achieved in a larger equipoise of patients thus minimizing the issue of this androgen on prostate physical process.
As well as reaction DHT levels in serum, dutasteride has been shown to reduce intraprostatic levels of the androgen which is important in the context of use of the underlying disease pathophysiology. In a body part randomized double-blind memorizer 46 patients with biopsy-proven T1/T2 prostate star sign were treated with medicament or dutasteride for up to 82 days prior to quantity prostatectomy (Andriole et al. 2003). Dutasteride powerfully suppressed both serum and intraprostatic DHT by 96.7% and >97% respectively, compared with standard and medicament artistic style (P<0.001). However, it should be noted that the dose of dutasteride (5 mg) used in this absorption was 10-fold greater than the recommended therapeutic dose.
